On November 28th 2008, the anti-gay group with the Godhatesfags website, headed by Fred Phelps, threatened to come to the Commercial Drive presentation of the play The Laramie Project and protest the opening night. Vancouver's LGBTQ community help a counter-rally that evening. Phelp's right wing religious radicals from the USA never showed up. The Laramie Project opens at the Havana Theater and Restaurant on Commercial Drive in Vancouver B.C. Nov.28 2008. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church hate mongers attempted to show up in protest, but were refused at the border. The protest against hate ensued, by showing peaceful protest and live music. Nadia Van Hahn preforms "Morning" which is from her upcoming CD and closes the performance of the Laramie Project. Interview with Ken, one of the owners of the Havana.

The Lost Souls procession gets its start, for a drums-and-dancing walk around the neighbourhood adjacent to Commercial Drive and Grandview Park. Part of the annual Halloween celebration put together by the neighbourhood. In Vancouver BC Canada.
